One of my favorite venues in Sasebo is Sakaemachi… better known as “Sake-Town.” It’s the perfect blend of city life and down-home Japan (as well as a great night out… just sayin’.) Love love love photographing here – especially when it’s my dinner companions Steve & Jenny and the kiddos! Too cool!
So, as per usual… I’ve been super-bad about updating my blog. I think it’s been a year? I’m so sorry, readers. From now on, you all reserve the right to flood my inbox with complaints if I go too long without posting!
I figured I’d start 2015 out with a recent session of this adorable little girl. We did some family portraits in one of my favorite areas, Sake-town, as well as here in the studio. I always loved the old-world Japan look – plus, Sake-town is rather fun on the weekends… *ahem* But during the day it looks so nice and peaceful. It’s a great background for this little cutie!
I found a very cool new website for art lovers! Make sure you check out Artsia (www.artsia.com) for some great original pieces by up and coming artists. There’s a pretty good range to acquire original pieces in pretty much any price point you’re looking at. And – they’ve asked to carry some of my pet pieces for sale, too! So if you’ve been a long-time client of ours, you might see your own fuzzy friend up on Artsia for other families to love as well. I’ll let you know when those are up. Meanwhile, check out some of my favorite pieces on Artsia (3 for now, but there will be more posts on this… too much cool stuff!):
Ok, I’m really bad about posting. Evidently. Since the last post is like 8 months old.
I will try to be better, I promise! In fact, right now, I’m writing SEVERAL blog posts… so it will look like they’re constantly posting on their own. Plus, I found an app for my phone so I can shoot random items around town and post them. (Let’s face it – all that’s letting you guys see is constant updates of the dog.)
Anyway, I wanted to introduce you guys to this fantastic couple – Irina & Maxim – who got married last week! They celebrated a short honeymoon here in the Eternal City, and we spent a day together documenting their vacation. Here are just a few from our day out:
Sharing a cappuccino at the bar in Galleria Alberto Sordi
My favorite: The couple at the Al Tempo Building behind the Parliament Building
Maxim steals a kiss in Piazza St. Eustachio
A jewel of hidden Rome: The Chiostro del Bramante
A quick cuddle in via dei Coronari
All great things end with Gelato – especially when it’s from Gelateria del Teatro!
(that’s the only bad part of photographing these… I have to watch longingly as my clients get to eat some of the best gelato in Rome… but it’s too hard to shoot and hold a cone!)
Better late than never, right Katie? I almost ALMOST forgot to post this blog entry, so thankfully I was reminded… because Baby T. is going to be entered in the Cutest Baby competition for GAP! Obviously, there is NO contest once they see her… 🙂 C’mon, look at that expression!
Generally, one-year-olds are a challenge to photograph. They don’t sit still, and when you add cake into the mix, a One-Year portrait can be down right exhausting. Not T.! The hardest part about this session? Trying to avoid eating the cake before T. got to it… It was delicious! And T. was a great sport the entire time. Such a great baby. Happy Birthday, T!
Incredibly adorable T. with her teddy bear
No!!! My bear!
So dainty. Most babies go head-first – T. takes a scientific sampling instead.
Ok, that’s better. 🙂
O Dio! Can you even believe how cute this is!?
To be honest, getting this much cake on her was Mom’s doing. She’s a very tidy baby.
All clean! Look at those baby blues. (pun intended.)
Hi everyone! I’m Jessica. I’m here with Stephanie learning some things about Photography and Photoshop! Photoshop’s hard isn’t it??!! I also hadmy first studio shoot, it was fun! A little embarrassing, I’m not used to taking lots of photos of me by myself…By the way I’m Jessica. I just turned 21! I study marketing and my course is awesome. I have a full schedule between lessons and little jobs here and there, but I like to keep myself busy! In my free time I love to go out with my friends and have fun or watch different tv shows; my favorite tv show is “Prison Break”, too bad they cut the season off…It was so good. If you’ve never seen it you should watch it. The new series of “90210” is great as well. Let’s see, what else do I like, well I love the sun and beach, in fact I’m happy spring is here, it’s the best season, not too hot nor too cold, perfect!
In April, I ended up getting really backed up with work, and sort of neglected posting anything here for fear of not giving anyone enough time on the blog. Unfortunately, that turned into not posting ANYTHING on the blog for… well, a long time, really. So I wanted to right that wrong and post some older sessions that just haven’t been featured yet.
This session is of Jenn’s family. Jenn is one of my fabulous brides from a few years ago, back in Virginia. 🙂 It was so great to see her and her fantastic family again.
One of the whole gang
This one involved giant bean-bag chairs!
Something a little more classic…
A very cute one of mom & dad together!
The happy couple (my favorite. Jenn, you NEED this one!)
Mike finds a garden gnome…
My personal favorite of everyone together.
…but this is a close second. I’m not overly decisive obviously.
You may remember Lizzy’s dogs, Brice & Brody, from earlier posts. However, they have a new (gorgeous) sister – Sheba! While she looks a lot like Brody – both mastiffs – they have such different personalities! Sheba’s so calm, relaxed… and reluctant to be in front of the camera! Brody, on the other hand, knows what a handsome boy he is… and he’s definitely NOT camera-shy! Brice… well, Brice is just Brice. 🙂 Aside from being the only dog Hailey just loves to play with, he’s got the cutest little “snort” whenever he’s happy. It’s so cute to see three doggie siblings who just love each other so much!
Sheba, posing sweetly for the camera
Sheba, in Black-and-White
Look at how big those paws are!
Sheba again, showing off her great Mastiff wrinkles.
A family portrait of the whole family
A pair of mastiffs. Sheba’s laying down. Brody is sitting up. (Lizzy calls this “the engagement portrait”!)
The three together. Don’t they all look happy!
A more relaxed family portrait of everybody
It’s been months since I’ve begged of my loyal readers to help with something… And therefore, it’s high-time I abuse your readership for my own personal advancement. 😉 Actually, it’s nothing huge, but I’d be forever obliged if you’d click the following link and simply “vote” for my image. Yes, it’s a popularity contest – but little would make me happier than winning a popularity contest too! The actual judging for best in category is done by PDN magazine editors. For those of you who aren’t familiar with PDN, it’s one of the leading market publications in the industry today. I got hooked on it in college while working at BU Photo Services.
Anyway, please vote here! http://facesphotocontest.com/bin/Rate?image_id=1009410782
