You may remember Lizzy’s dogs, Brice & Brody, from earlier posts. However, they have a new (gorgeous) sister – Sheba! While she looks a lot like Brody – both mastiffs – they have such different personalities! Sheba’s so calm, relaxed… and reluctant to be in front of the camera! Brody, on the other hand, knows what a handsome boy he is… and he’s definitely NOT camera-shy! Brice… well, Brice is just Brice. 🙂 Aside from being the only dog Hailey just loves to play with, he’s got the cutest little “snort” whenever he’s happy. It’s so cute to see three doggie siblings who just love each other so much!

Look at how big those paws are!
Sheba again, showing off her great Mastiff wrinkles.
A family portrait of the whole family
A pair of mastiffs. Sheba’s laying down. Brody is sitting up. (Lizzy calls this “the engagement portrait”!)
The three together. Don’t they all look happy!
A more relaxed family portrait of everybody
Look at this… regularly scheduled blog posts!
Here are a few recent ones… The I Family found me through the US Embassy Auction last April, and we finally found some time to meet this past weekend. On Sunday, we did a great family portrait – first in the studio, then out in beautiful Villa Borghese. What’s even more fun? The family portrait turned into a Family Boat Ride – in front of a beautiful Greek temple, surrounded by colorful autumn trees and lots of ducks.
And of course, Miss Tina, mixed-breed Terrier, will be making an appearance in the upcoming LOVEmutts!
One for the book. Tina, looking super-adorable!
The three kids together. 🙂
Mom & Dad have a minute to themselves.
And Tina makes 3… 🙂
Out at Villa Borghese, having a great time
A few more from Borghese
Love the blue with those bright yellow autumn leaves
And we ended the day with a boat-ride around the park. (Tina’s with me. Don’t worry.)
On Sunday, we lucked out with some absolutely gorgeous weather and great light over at the Capitoline Hill. Where better to do a family portrait in Rome? Anyway, we had a great time with this family of 6 (including the sweet little Shih tzu, Essence). And the most fantastic kids I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with! They listen better to posing instructions better than most adults… heck, better than most of the professional models! They have quite a career ahead of them… 🙂
On the steps of Michelangelo’s Capitoline Hill. (Cannot wait to see the canvas of this, it’s going to look amazing!)
Everyone’s happy… except the dog!
A nice one in front of the Colosseum.
Then we moved inside for some studio “stuff”…
My favorite of mom & dad together! 🙂
How cute is she!?
“Ok guys, I’m done… you go on without me!”
The last maternity / pet session I photographed was WAAAY less cute than this adorable family of three. Three being mom, dad, and dog… for now at least. Unlike the last “pet maternity session” there were no hairless rats to be found last night! (That doesn’t mean there aren’t any… it’s Rome after all… it just means I didn’t find them!)
Can we tell I haven’t had a caffè today? Just kinda rambling. But I guess rambling is better than not posting for… oh, my… it’s been awhile again hasn’t it. Well hopefully the cuteness of Nelson and just how adorable of a couple Claire and Charlie are will make up for that! Here’s a couple from yesterday’s session.
Oh, and I know I was all excited about that new gray border I custom designed… Well, Lightroom decided it didn’t like it anymore and crashes whenever I try to load it up. So… back to the Photoshop stamp for now.
I love happy couples that need no direction to look cute for the camera!
Claire’s cute little baby bump!
Love this. Stunning!
And a few of Mr. Nelson. He’s a very happy puppy dog.
My favorite. Considering a reshoot of this image for next year.
You know that rule I have about “ears up / tongue in” dog portraiture? Um… yeah. 🙂
After we finished up, I released the Shetland Sheepmonster and gave both her and Nelson the remaining hotdog pieces. Well Nelson dropped his and Hailey wasn’t quite fast enough to snatch it up before Nelson swallowed it. I kid you not… my little 20 lb. sheltie sprung into action and attempted to TACKLE Nelson who’s at least twice her size, if not more. Of course she couldn’t really do much. He growled back at her, but he could have eaten her in one gulp if he wanted. Hailey ran behind my legs like “protect me!”… yeah right, dumb dog. You started it! I should really teach her to share better… Come to think of it, she’s quite the instigator!
Just getting around to posting this from about… er… 3 weeks ago? Hey, considering my track record, that’s not that bad! Seeing as I have 3 shoots I keep *meaning* to post from six months ago… Anyway, these are two photographers from Rome – well, one’s in Rome, and the other is from Rome, but works in California (apparently we traded spots.) We spent the day photographing in Matteo’s absolutely gorgeous studio – I’m so jealous. Was teaching a little pet photography, so here are some updated Hailey-beast photos, too.
Hailey hammin’ it up.
My favorite of Hailey – she’s just such a diva with a camera. (It’s frightening really.)
Riccardo, just chillin out…
Riccardo and Matteo doing the “Roman Thing”… Hand gestures.
My favorite. Too funny. Yes this is what photographers do when trapped in a studio for too long.
The Blue-Steel look… (If you’ve never seen Zoolander, you must!)
Brice has a new big brother… and I do mean BIG!
Brody is a 100 lb. mastiff… and still growing! Just look at the size of those paws.
Anyway, Lizzy bought in her new baby for some pet portraits just in time for Christmas (which explains the hat). They’re both surprisingly amenable to wearing clothing – which is funny because Hailey will really have none of it. Brice, by the way, is Hailey’s buddy after we dog-sat for him. She was so upset when he left!
My favorite. Possibly one of this year’s four…
All puppy! (that is SOME tongue!)
He’s all tuckered out, and the season has barely begun!
My favorite family portrait
A closeup of the group
My other favorite. They’re surprisingly willing to stay like this too…
These two gorgeous girls are Chloe – the Shepherd, and Domino – the German Cooley. Really good dogs, but as different as night and day. Chloe is definitely the Alpha dog but as sweet as can be. Domino is by far the submissive one. She seemed to be a little terrified of Dave too, but well… understandable. Chloe on the other hand had it out with Hailey, but really – we all know women don’t like the pretty aloof girl in class – so it’s all good. (Hailey wiggles her butt too… I used to hate that in high school.) And honestly, Hailey needs to be put into check once in awhile – she took one for pretty girls everywhere. Anyway, Chloe & Domino are just as sweet as can be – it’s obvious that they’re best friends!
Miss Domino. For my art history buffs out there – like her inverted pyramidal composition? 🙂
Domino & Chloe – Best friends!
To quote a photographer friend of mine: “You seriously pose pets like high school seniors” – ha, pets are people too!
Love this one of Chloe – she has the prettiest markings!
Domino, being shy behind mom.

The two girls together for some drama style
Meet Pierre. He might look little, but this is one dominant little maltese! Pierre is an Alpha dog all around – but it’s ok, because he’s just so darn cute! If he doesn’t resemble a stuffed animal, I don’t know what does. Just look at those shiny button eyes and puffy little tail. Thanks to Xiya (pronounced “See-ya” which I am finally now pronouncing correctly) for bringing him in!
Look at his happy little smile!
“Wave for the camera”
Looking dapper on his little bench
My favorite – he looks just so adorable
Mom’s favorite – very Renaissance-like!
One serving of puppy coming right up!
Odd angle, but love it anyway – Pierre is ALWAYS on the move!
Better late than never!… Meet Klondike – an absolutely gorgeous mix who is white from head to toe. He looks exactly like a wolf (he might be part-wolf for all I know!) except that he’s as sweet and gentle as a baby. Poor guy was absolutely terrified of my background paper – so he was most comfortable posing in the chairs which were just a bit too snug for him… Anyway, thank you to Alyssa for sharing her big baby with me!
Just look at that sweet face!
Klondike looking super cute and happy!
Love this one – it’s his “playa'” look
Alyssa’s favorite – just chillin’ out!
Look at how white he is!
All tucked into his snug little chair…
My favorite. Took Ashley and me nearly 10 minutes just to get the lights to do this with his fur
